a WoW player. I know how to play MMORPGs and video games.
That, and playing Wii, excludes each other.

Also, if you are have played MMO's for a bit over 1 year, you are a newbie. I wasn't talking about your gaming experience, but about MMO experience.

The part about "post lagged" reminds me of a joke about Jesus having a 3-day lag before resurrecting. Same thing, eh? Ping 259200000 is awful, I know.

How long have you been playing MMORPGs? Have you ever been called a newb?
8 yeahs, probably not. Because either I started when the MMO/online game has started (Diablo 2, NwN, Guild Wars, WAR) or just because I'm a quick learner and I can fake being a newbie in the game.

Oh, you was talking about MMO experience. Did you mean that you can fake being a experienced gamer when your really a newbie?

Are you from Finland? Do you know if they still have the 'Gathering' event in Finland even if your not from Finland?

I have no idea what the H is Gathering and I'm not from Finland. You are basing that on my Location? Do your research on what "Niflheim" is. You CAN find that on wiki. There's only one such location.

You were. I was, you were, he/she/it was. And yes, if a newbie is talking to a newbie, he can fake being an experienced player. But good player can just ask one question to check if person truly knows what he's talking about.

This is what Niflheim means;

"Niflheimr or Niflheim ("Mist Home", the "Abode of Mist" or "Mist World") ; Nifl[1] being cognate with the Old English Nifol ("dark")[2] and Nebel, a German and Latin root meaning cloud) is a location in Norse mythology which overlaps with the notions of Niflhel and Hel. The name Niflheimr only appears in two extant sources and they are Gylfaginning and the much debated Hrafnagaldr Óðins.

According to Gylfaginning, it was one of the two primordial realms, the other one being Muspelheim, the realm of fire. Between these two realms of cold and heat, creation began. Later, it became the location of Hel, the abode of those who did not die a heroic death".

It's not possible to fake being experienced player in-game because other people can see your lvl by clicking on your avatar.

Jesus Christ. You do know people make alts? Just because someone has a level 2 Scrapper doesn't mean he doesn't have 3 level 50 Peacebringers on his account and has been playing the game for 48 months straight.

Also, I know some morons that have played for 3 years and I would hardly consider them experts.

That's is possible my friend. We should ask those lvl 2 scrapper whether they have three lvl 50 toons.

So you decided to put Niflheim as you location? That's a bit weird dude. Have you ever been to Niflheim on vacation?

I thought students have more important things than asking pointless questions.

Besides, even if this is Offtopic, 2-man discussions should stay in Private Messages. And I have better things to do than waste time on a pointless discussion.

Sorry Abedeus, I got carried away there. I think your from Australia. Do you think Guild Wars is losing popularity?

This is a question which is related to my research. Are you a student by any chance?

Student, but still in high school.

Nope, I'm not from Australia, mate. Europe. You could type in "the crappiest country in Europe that has a duck for a president" in Google and find mine.

Yeah, Guild Wars is losing popularity. GW 2 is probably a vaporware and GW 1 isn't getting any love at all.

Your from Hungary right? So what MMORPG are you going to try next? Are there any MMORPGs that you would recommend?

No, I'm not from Hungary. And it's "you're", "your" is possessive.

I'm going to try Aion and Runes of Magic. For the latter, I'm in the Beta, but I don't care downloading the game. Too much hassle. And due to my loud graphic card, I can't leave the PC over night to download it.

I would recommend City of Heroes/Villians, Warhammer Online as soon as they repair some bugs and fix the game problems. Also, Ragnarok Online is decent in terms of PvE and awesome in terms of massive PvP. Too bad unless you are playing on a private server, leveling is boring and you can't do it through PvP, like in Warhammer.

My mistake, I should be good at English grammar! Yeah, Warhammer looks awesome. But isn't it like WoW? I think a MMO which doesn't copy WoW is needed. A game that is based in the future would be good.

Abedeus, do you know of any games that use the 'future' theme? Or a game based under water would probably make a good MMO.

Underwater? No. Wouldn't be a good MMO, anyway.
Future theme - Star Wars The Old Republic is coming, if you count that as "future". Tabula Rasa and Hellgate London, both are shutting down.

No, it's not like WoW. It looks like (UI), but some decent mods make it look a lot better and then it's exactly unlike WoW. Mainly because WoW = PvE and WAR = PvP. One is good at PvE, the other one at PvP.

So what do you think would make a good MMO in the near future?

I heard about TR closing down, why is it closing down? I think most people prefer PVE more than PVP. You don't have look over your back in PVE. You know what I mean Abedeus?

People prefer PvE because:

a) It's usually mindless.
b) People are stupid and don't want the challenge of vanquishing another person.
c) They like shiny things to collect.
d) It's relaxing, because you don't have to think.. But then again, when I want to relax, I launch TF2 and shoot people.

I have no idea what would make a good MMO in the near future. Aion's Korean Open Beta already has won the Best Korean Game 2008 award and looks like an improved Lineage 2, especially in terms of combat. Darkfall, if it truly will come out, will be decent. Star Wars The Old Republic looks very well, fast paced MMO in the Old Republic times in SW universe. But open beta is probably in 2009 or 2010.

TR is closing down... No idea, actually. Never played the game. I've heard it's because of lack of balance, bugs and boredom.

Yeah, darkfall looks a big MMORPG. There are loads of gamers waiting for it's release.

I think Star Wars is alright, it has a consistent fan base. So which MMO will you be playing in 2009 other than City of Heroes?

Do you play online with you partner?

In 2009 I'll try for sure Aion beta, probably Star Wars and Runes of Magic... If they release a better way to get their client. Also, not sure if it counts, but Demigod looks like it has a decent multiplayer.

Nope, I don't play online with my "friend", as I'm a bit too young to have a partner. Mainly because he prefers Lineage 2 on private servers and has a bit weak graphic card to play anything new. And I don't know more than 2 girls that play computer games other than Sims.

Sure, I've noticed that women don't play MMOs as much as men. I think it's because they don't like the PvP aspect. It's a shame, women would make good MMO gamers. What do you think Abedeus?

Are you going to tell me where you're from?

Actually, I've met (by "don't know more than 2 girls" I mean IRL, I know some lady gamers on-line) girls that enjoy PvP. It's more because girls don't like the whole idea of computer gaming. It's same why not many girls like soccer or basketball, or why boys don't play with dolls or bake cakes.

I'm from Poland. You know, the country with a duck/hamster hybrid for a president.
